Sciatica means pain down the leg. It is caused from pressure on the sciatica nerve.The sciatica nerve is made up of nerve roots in the lower back. They come together in the sciatica notch located in the center of your gluteal (butt ) muscle. Hence, why it truly is a pain in the butt! Common symptoms associated with sciatica include pain, burning, numbness, tingling, dead, weakness in the muscles of the leg. It typically is in one leg only.Causes of sciatica include subluxation or misalignment of the lumbar spine and or pelvis, herniated lumbar disc. pregnancy spinal stenosis, piriformis muscle spasm,and on rare occasions, tumor.
